The latest Decima survey shows that 73% of Canadians are making more of an effort to be environmentally conscious in their behaviour than they were one year ago.” I think this has happened primarily because the downturn in the economy has forced everyone to look more closely at their spending habits. Our spending habits/consumerism is directly linked to the environment: the more we buy, the more production; the more resources; the more pollution (* Source: The Canadian Press Harris/Decima Survey). What does this mean to home owners? Turning down the thermostat to reduce energy use; installing EnergyStar appliances and low flow toilets and shower heads; and composting waste to reduce garbage just to name a few ways home owners are making efforts to save the environment.
