Canadian Federal government annouces end of funding for the ecoENERGY grant program. Sadly, the Federal government has decided to cancel this grant program effective 1st April at 4:00 PM. What this means is that we will not be able to book pre-evaluations for the federal grant program after 4:00 PM 1st of April 2010.

If you were considering going through this program it is crucial that you let them know that they must book their pre- evaluation by tomorrow at 4:00PM. The actual appointment can be over the next couple weeks – but the appointment MUST be booked by no later then tomorrow at 4:00PM. After this time you will not be able to schedule pre– retrofit evaluations.

This will not impact the post-evaluation process for those individuals who have already done their first evaluation or schedule their first evaluation by tomorrow at 4:00 PM. Those individuals still have between now and March 2011 to do their retrofits and have their second evaluation.

On a final note – it appears that the Ontario government will still continue with their grant program. This will mean that any homeowner who books an evaluation after tomorrow will still have access to up to $5,000 in government grants for energy efficient home improvements. While this is less substantial then original combined federal and provincial amount of $10,000 in grants – it still is a very worthwhile incentive.
